Description
Eriobotrya japonica, commonly known as loquat, is a versatile ornamental tree or large shrub valued for its attractive foliage, fragrant flowers, and edible fruit. It has large, glossy, leathery leaves with a slightly serrated edge, giving the plant a lush, tropical appearance. In late autumn to early winter, it produces clusters of small, fragrant white flowers, followed by round or pear-shaped, yellow to orange fruit in spring. Often used in Mediterranean or subtropical gardens for its year-round greenery and ornamental appeal. It works well as a specimen tree, in hedges, or even in large containers, providing a beautiful focal point with the added bonus of delicious fruit.
